Trojan ExplorersFull S.T.E.A.M. Ahead!
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University Title III Academic Outreach Grant along with the College of Education consistently provides opportunities for students to have access to college readiness skills in middle and high schools as they prepare for post-secondary education. Throughout the school year, FAMU provides educational trips, simulation activities and other innovative interactions to students in designated middle and high schools across the state of Florida, which includes tutoring, college tours, academic advising, leadership mentoring, credit retrieval and much more!
This Spring we are thrilled to provide a project-based learning (PBL) program, Trojan Explorers: Full S.T.E.A.M Ahead!, that is designed to ensure that current 6th-8th graders have the basic skills and knowledge needed to be successful in all aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (S.T.E.A.M) with a fun twist. In addition, this program will reinforce students to the AVID/WICOR strategies that are used across content areas during the regular school day. Students will gain knowledge and skills through Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading (WICOR) as well as the basic 21st Century Skills Knowledge, Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking and Creativity (K4C).
