The curriculum for all grades encompasses the Strands of History, Geography, Government, and Economics.6th grade
The World History curriculum includes the study of people and events from pre-history through the 1500s. The year begins with a review of map skills and the people of the Stone Ages. It includes, but is not limited to, the ancient civilizations and cultures of Mesopotamia, China, Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The textbook from Glencoe is Discovering Our Past: A History of the World, Early Ages. We also use the Nystrom World History Atlas.
7th Grade
The Civics curriculum includes the study of citizenship and government in the United States. It begins with the founding of our government in the colonies and moves into the 3 branches of government and individual civic responsibility. A service learning project is included in the requirements for Civics. The Holt textbook used is Civics in Practice.
8th grade
The American History curriculum begins with the early exploration of our land by European countries and continues through the Civil War. The textbook used is Glencoe's Discovering Our Past: A History of the United State, Early Years. 8th grade curriculum also includes EPeP, a career education and planning curriculum.
