5^th Grade Summer Reading Assignment

     Hello incoming Fifth Graders! We are looking forward to a wonderful upcoming school year and can’t wait to meet all of you in August!

     Over the summer you will need to read "Hatchet" by Gary Paulson and complete the assignment. There are 30 multiple choice questions and 2 written response questions. A rubric is also included so you can see how it will be scored and graded. Students are expected to read the book in it’s entirety – not just scan the book for the answers. In addition, students will be expected to take an AR quiz on the book. The book has been provided and given to Sealey students at the end of Fourth Grade, so you are all set to go!

Students who DO NOT READ in the summer can

lose two to three months of reading skills.

Students who DO READ tend to gain a month of reading proficiency.
