Greetings everyone,
I am Demetria Jett Clemons, the proud principal of our “school for you and me,” Sealey Elementary. As your principal, I want to make sure you know that my focus will always be to do what is best for each and every child. I pride myself in being available to talk with students, parents, teachers, staff, district personnel and community members in order to make this an even better school.
Please allow me to share some things “about me.” I am delighted to be starting my 18th year as principal of Sealey! I was born in Heidelberg, Germany (and No, I don’t speak German) and traveled with my military family, Ernest and Lillie Jett before settling in Tallahassee. My education is rooted in the local schools, having graduated from Rickards High and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University where I received both my undergraduate (Elementary Education) and graduate degrees (Educational Leadership). I began my teaching career in Duval County and also taught in Gadsden County. I was fortunate to teach for 4 years at Sealey before moving to Assistant Principal positions at W.T. Moore Elementary and Chaires Elementary. All of these experiences contributed greatly to my concern for our children and to find ways to ensure that our children receive the best education possible.
In 2013, I was honored to receive the Leon County Administrator of the Year Award. Proud and humbled to receive this award, it also strengthened my resolve to continue to reach for higher heights and seek solutions to make everything about Sealey a place where everyone is special and everyone grows and changes. I live by the motto, “whatever it takes!”
