Accelerated Reader is a computerized reading program that helps students in grades K - 5 with reading comprehension. Students are given the opportunity to select books based on their reading levels and can either read the books independently, with a friend, or have the books read to them. Once this is done, the students take quizzes for the books and receive immediate feedback. Each quarter, students take either the STAR Early Literacy Reading Test or STAR Reading Test. Based on their test results, their teachers will set their reading goals of points, the required quiz average of at least 80% (Grades K-1) or 85% (Grades 2-5), and the amount of time per day for reading that the students must meet by the end of the quarter. Students are rewarded for each quarter for reaching their reading goals.
