Daily reading is vital to increasing and strengthening reading skills. The AR program offers a reading range which is your child's "sweet spot" - it is the "just right" level for your child to be able to read, yet still challenging enough to push them further ahead. Students are expected to be reading AR books EVERYDAY for a MINIMUM OF 30 MINUTES. This includes weekends and any days off from school. Students will easily reach their AR goal (actually surpass their goal) if they are doing this required reading homework. Students are able to check 2 books out of the school library each week, as long as they return the books they previously checked out. The 2 book per week check out from school may not be sufficient - therefore regular trips to the public library are recommended. You are able to find out if a book is an AR book and what level it is by going to the following website: http://www.arbookfind.com. The students will take a placement test at the beginning of each quarter to determine their AR level.
