What grades can participate in the Cybersecurity Academy?
Students can begin the coursework as early as 8th grade and will work to complete it during high school.

Do students need to be full-time LCVS students?
Yes, students must be enrolled as full-time students with LCVS to participate. Click HERE for more information on becoming a full-time student.

Does my child need to be a resident of Leon County?
No, students must be a resident of Florida to enroll with Leon County Virtual School.

Is there an application process?
Yes, we are a school of choice, and you must apply and be accepted to attend. Click HERE for more information on becoming a full-time student.

Can full-time students participate in sports at their home zone school?
Yes, students can play sports at their home zone school. You would need to reach out to the athletic director at that school for more information.

Can students participate in dual enrollment while enrolled in the Cybersecurity Academy?
Yes, students will have the option to dual enroll and earn college credits while enrolled in the Academy.

Will students be required to report to LCVS for in-person days/events?
Yes, there will be some in-person days that students in the Academy will be required to report for.

Progression
Year 1 - Digital Information Technology
This innovative course provides you with the foundational skills needed for future careers in a variety of technological fields. You’ll explore emerging technologies, digital design, Microsoft Office online applications, and much more!
Year 2 - Computer Network and Security Fundamentals (Honors)
This course covers the fundamentals of computer safety, network security, and the prevention of digital attacks. You’ll experience a hands-on approach to security strategies, expand your computer and networking security techniques, and improve your problem-solving skills.
Year 3 - Cybersecurity Essentials (Honors)
This inspiring course covers defensive strategies for computer, mobile device, and network security. You’ll experience a hands-on approach to security strategies, expand your computer and networking security techniques, and improve your problem-solving skills.
Year 4 - Operational Cybersecurity (Honors)
Students will put all their knowledge together and put it into effect. Students will see how cybersecurity works in the real world, how vulnerabilities can be exposed, and how to protect from intrusions.
