Bus Transportation . . . A Privilege
Bus students must obey the driver, sit in their designated seats and talk softly. Riding the bus is a privilege and improper conduct may result in temporary suspension from the bus. The Leon County District Code of Student Conduct will be sent home at the beginning of the school year. Parents and students should read and review these rules.
Leon County School Bus Rules
Children who live more than two miles from the school may ride the bus. A child may not ride the bus unless he/she is an assigned bus student or on a field trip. No one may ride another bus without a parent note and administrator/designee approval.
Students must follow bus rules:
- Obey the driver.
- Stay seated and face the front.
- Talk quietly.
- Keep hands, arms, feet, and objects to yourself.
- Do not use inappropriate language, put downs, or racial slurs.
- Remain orderly while waiting for the bus.
- Wait until it is your turn to load or unload.
Bus Referral
The bus driver is in charge on the bus. If the rules are broken, the bus driver will give a warning or a bus referral, depending on the seriousness of the offense. When a student gets a bus referral, parents receive a copy. Consequences may include, but not limited to: giving an apology, loss of special privilege, assigned bus seat, or suspension from the bus. Students who use foul language, throw things, fight, threaten others, or disobey the bus driver repeatedly will be suspended from the bus.

Bus routes will no longer be posted on our website. In order to identify your child's bus stop, you must submit the "ready to ride" form. Then, over the summer, your FOCUS account will be updated with the stop information. You can find out how to access the form and learn more about the ready to ride program, here: https://www.leonschools.net/Ride.
So, if you know now that your student will be riding a bus next year, please go ahead and sign in to FOCUS to register them so you do not have to worry about it during the "Back to School" rush.
We understand that change may bring some questions and unease. We will provide further information throughout the summer to help prepare everyone for a successful start to the 2025-2026 school year. If you have any questions now, please email transportation@leonschool.net.
