Degrees and Certifications:
Getting to Know Mrs. Garcia
Hi there! My name is Michelle Garcia and I am thrilled to be your child's teacher! I have called Tallahassee home since I was in the fourth grade. I graduated from Lincoln High School and then went on to attend Florida State University. I actually interned here at KLES way back in the spring of 1991 and then was lucky enough to be hired as a fourth grade teacher in the fall of 1991. After teaching 23 classes of fourth graders, I made the move to third grade for seven years. Last year I returned to fourth grade, teaching social studies and science to three different classes. This year,I am teaching math to three different classes. It is something new for me, but I am always up for a new challenge! I have always wanted to be a teacher - a decision I made in the second grade- and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made!!
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Jason for 20 years. We have one son, Tommy, who is a sophomore at Chiles this year. Our home is filled with laughter and love and a little bit of craziness, especially with our dog, Bean, and our cat, Piper. We love traveling, hanging out at the beach, playing ping pong and basically anything we can do together.
I am looking forward to a fabulous year getting to know all of my students and their families. It is going to be an exciting year of learning and fun!!
