The ESOL Department is a key component of the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB 2002). This law included Title I provisions applying to disadvantaged students and requires that all English Language Learners (ELL) receive quality instruction for both English and grade-level academic instruction.

Goals for ESOL at Sabal Palm

  • When teaching English for speakers of other languages, we work to

    • impact the learning of the new language towards the acquisition of both social and academic language.
    • to tailor the classroom instruction to meet the individual needs of each student
    • to make our students and their families feel welcome, accepted and supported in all different activities and events while assimilating into the US classroom and school culture.
