Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer and Mentorship programs! We are ELATED to have you serve in one of these capacities at Sabal Palm Elementary!

- Serving at Sabal Palm Elementary
- Anyone who serves as a volunteer or mentor at a Leon County School is required to fill out the LCS Volunteer Application and have a background check performed by LCS Safety and Security.
- Any parent who wants to attend a school-related field trip or other function must complete a LCS Volunteer Application. Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing your application.

- General Volunteers
- must be cleared by the LCS Volunteer Office.
- must pass a background check by LCS Safety and Security.
- must sign in and out when entering or leaving campus at the front office.
- must perform their role under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
- assist with classroom instruction, small group instruction, special events, in the Library/Media Center, and in many other school-related acitivities.
- are not allowed to pull students away from their assigned supervision / no private interactions.

- College / University Student Volunteers
- are assigned to us by their individual professors from their institution.
- must be cleared by the LCS Volunteer Office.
- must pass a background check by LCS Safety and Security.
- must sign in and out when entering or leaving campus at the front office.
- must perform their role under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
- assist with classroom instruction and in many other school-related activities.

- General Mentors and College / University Student Mentors
- must be cleared by the LCS Volunteer Office.
- must pass a background check by LCS Safety and Security.
- must be fingerprinted (LCS bears the cost).
- must take a required 1 hour Mentor Training course.
- must sign in and out when entering or leaving campus at the front office.
- receive a green "Mentor" badge, which should be worn at all times when on campus.
- are allowed to meet one to one in a busy setting such as the media center.
