• National Elementary Honor Society

Did you know that Springwood Elementary is the ONLY Elementary school with an official National Elementary Honor Society (NEHS) in Leon County? NEHS is a campus organization that recognizes and honors students for four important character pillars: scholarship, leadership, responsibility, and service. All students in grades 2-5 are eligible to be an Honor Society member if they meet the following qualifications:
      • Have been present in the 2013-2014 school year (for at least the 3rd and 4th nine weeks)

      • Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 over the past 3 grading periods (3rd/4th nine weeks of the 13-14 school year and 1st nine weeks of the 14-15 school year)

        o No D’s or F’s

      • Have no more than 2 S’s in either Work/Study Skills or Behavior over the past 3 grading periods (3rd/4th nine weeks of the 13-14 school year and 1st nine weeks of the 14-15 school year)

        o No N’s

      • Have no more than 5 unexcused absences/tardies during the 1st nine weeks of the 14-15 school year

All students who are eligible, based on the parameters listed above,  are invited to apply during the 2nd 9 weeks of school. We process all applications and induct new members in December. Once you have been inducted as a member, there is no need to reapply for your NEHS membership in subsequent years (as long as you have maintained the qualification requirements).
As an NEHS member, students will have an opportunity to express leadership on campus throughout the year. Members of NEHS will also participate in at least 1 service learning project.
