  • WEEK OF NOVEMBER 16-20

This week, you are starting Learning.com, which we used in Kindergarten-2nd Grade at Canopy Oaks. When you login, you will notice that it looks very different from previous years. Once you get into the actual lessons, you will notice they are very similar. You will login using your student number as the username and your 5 digit lunch pin as the password. You do not need all of the other words necessary when logging in to Classlink. Then type Leon in the bottom box where it says "district". A drop down box will appear, and you can then select "Leon County Schools".

Once you have logged in, you will be given a chance to choose an avatar. Once you make your selection, you will go to the pathway with the lesson numbers on them. We will usually work in order. Some of the lessons are similar to what you remember from 2nd grade, and some of them are new, short videos with quizzes. These are not graded - you will earn stars for completing the activity. As you earn stars for working hard and doing your best, you will unlock more avatars. If you have any problems or questions, email me at williamsj1@leonschools.net.

    Lessons/Activities

    1. Lesson #1: Password Powerup - answer the questions the best you can - your score does not matter

    2. Lesson #2: Online Safety: Cyberbullying

(Parents/Students - there are times when the lesson does not recognize that a correct answer is being given. It doesn't happen often, but it does occur. Please do not worry about that one bit. I know the lessons where this happens. It is important for the student to follow directions very carefully - for example, if the directions say to use the "Enter" key after typing in an answer, it is very important that the mouse is NOT touched first.)

    3RD GRADE

CLICK THE FIRST LINK TO WATCH A WELCOME VIDEO FIRST

You may be asked to login - if so, I think it is the normal login information that it used for Classlink.

    Thanks!

    Ms. Williams

  • Dear Third Graders and Families,

Remember - when you are typing, hold your hands in proper position with your pointer fingers on the "bump keys" - f and j, with the rest of your fingers on the home row. Thumbs only on the space bar. You do not have to be perfect, but you want to try your best to keep your fingers in position. Your fingers live on the home row - they can go and visit other letters, but they always go back home. This week, only do Level 1, Stages 1 and 2. If you need to take a break in between, that's fine, or if you can only get one stage done this week, that is fine, too. Parents, you may want to write down what your child does this week just in case you forget by next Wednesday.

    Ms. Williams
