Mrs. Grussing was born in south central New York State. When her family moved to Tallahassee, she became the proud graduate of Amos P. Godby High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education at Florida State University. Mrs. Grussing was the art teacher at Sabal Palm Elementary School for 14 years. During that time she earned the Sallie Mae First Year Teacher Award in 1989-90, BEST Teacher Award in 1991-92, and Teacher of the Year in 2001-02. In 2003, she transferred to Astoria Park Elementary School where she has taught for 17 years. Mrs. Grussing was the Leon County Elementary Art Coordinator from 2004-09. She has been happily married to Todd Grussing for 31 years. Mr. Grussing works for the Department of Health. They have 2 boys named Spencer (26 years old) and Fletcher (24 years old). Both children are alumni of Astoria Park Elementary School. Mrs. Grussing's 2 brothers and her sister are also alumni of Astoria Park! Her family includes 2 dogs named Crockett & Bucky and a bearded dragon named Ty Ty. Mrs. Grussing loves animals, going to the lake & beach, and kayaking. Her hobbies include creative projects, clay sculpture, and solving puzzles.
