Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Carter

My name is Nicole Carter and this is my 20th year teaching. I am from Miami, Florida and I graduated in 2002 from Florida A&M University (Go Rattlers) where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education K-6. I attended Nova Southeastern University and I pursued a Masters Degree in Reading. I taught three years at Scott Lake Elementary School in Miami and this will be my seventeenth year teaching in Leon County. I have a love for the Arts! I graduated from Miami Northwestern Senior High School and I was a member of the Performing and Visual Arts Dance Program under the direction of Veronica Swindell. I studied ballet, modern dance, jazz, tap, hip-hop, and Flamenco. I had opportunities to choreograph dances for recitals. I studied under Ms. Florene Nichols, Rod Davis, Shannon Haynes, Senora Padron, Ms. Alvarez, Ms. Suarez, and many other professional dance choreographers and teachers. I also modeled for Image Model and Talent Agency in Miami South Beach operated by Jerry Babij and I attended many casting calls and was selected to perform as an extra in the movies The Bird Cage (1996) and The Substitute. From a very young age I learned the importance of discipline through the arts and the importance of making my dreams come true.

These experiences really encouraged me to pursue my dreams and I also know that anything is possible when you put in the work. I enjoy spending time with my family, quiet moments where I can read and learn new things, traveling, exercising, attending the games that my husband coaches, reading lots of novels, and of course teaching my students! I am married to Coach Carter and we have one son (Samewell Carter) who is in 7th grade this school year. I am a very cheerful person and I love moments where I can just share a laugh with others. I  also believe that working as a team will ensure that your child meets their individual goals. I am looking forward to this school year!
