My name is Shannon Gaines. I was born and raised right here in Tallahassee, Fl. My parents have three daughters of which I am the youngest.

I attended high school at Lawton Chiles where I participated in many sports and clubs. In 2002 my classmates and I were the first to graduated from Lawton Chiles. After graduation I attended Tallahassee Community College for two years before transferring to Valencia Community College in Orlando, Fl where I finished my Associates Degree. I then moved back home and began working on my bachelors degree at Florida State University. In August of 2007 I graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Child Development. I was hired as a Kindergarten teacher two months before graduation.

The week after graduation I reported to my first job at a charter school where i worked for eight years. During my time there I spent seven years as a Kindergarten teacher and one year as a Kindergarten teacher. In 2007, my first year as a teacher, I receive the Rookie Teacher of the year award.

In 2009, I became the proud mother of a beautiful baby girl name Nevaeh. Nevaeh is currently in second grade and enjoys competitive cheerleading.

In 2010 I decided to return to school to work on my Masters degree. I graduated from Ashford University in 2012 with a Masters in Early Childhood Education.

I would say my love for teaching began at an early age. My grandmother began working with kids after retirement and gave over 25 years of love and dedication to "her babies" and my oldest sister owns a child care facitily here in Tallahassee.
