Message from FSU's Science on the Move

Posted by Gina Gass on 8/30/2021

Hello Friends of Science on the Move,

This semester we will again be offering virtual visits with Science on the Move. The calendar for visit requests is now open and can be found here: The calendar will remain open until midnight on Friday, September 10, 2021. I will contact those who have been selected for a visit by Friday, September 17, 2021. If additional slots are open, I will be in touch with information on these.

A  few things to keep in mind as you make a request...

1)  SOTM classroom visits requests are not "first-come, first-served".  Requests are granted at the sole discretion of the program director based on several factors (e.g., date of last SOTM visit, date and activity availability, demonstrated need, past cooperation).  For this reason, please take your time completing the entire visit request form. If you are part of a teaching team, please discuss this with your team, make sure everyone is on board, and choose one representative to file a request and run point.

2)  If you have requests for extracurricular activities, do not attempt to sign up using the calendar.  Please email all requests for extracurricular activities (science clubs, science nights, science festivals) directly to  The calendar is for normal school day visits only.

3) We are reopening equipment loans for Fall 2021. Please bear with us as we navigate this portion of the program in these unusual times. For more information please see

4) If you have questions about virtual visits, check out our FAQs page:

There is a lot of detailed information, so please read over all of the instructions carefully, give the visit request form questions some thought, and take your time signing up.  There's no rush, there is no priority given for signing up first, and you have until midnight on Friday, September 10, 2021.

If you have any questions, please check out the website ( or email us at

Thank you for your continued support of the program and I look forward to working with you this semester!

Best wishes,

Hannah Hiester, Ph.D.
