Happy Friday to you all!
Our class is still learning about the theme "I'm Special". Almost all of the children are recognizing their first name in print and some children are beginning to recognize the written names of their peers. We are seeing lots of excellent whole body listening skills at work during our circle time and small groups activities. We have enjoyed reading many books where we spent time focusing on who and what questions. We have enjoyed finger plays and songs where the children and teachers enjoyed moving and actively participating in the learning process.
In math, we have worked on counting groups of objects, giving 1 item, giving 1 more, and giving two items. We also looked at a variety of grouped objects and found which sets had groups of two and groups of three.
Last week our student of the week was Liam. We celebrate Liam for a wonderful transition into our classroom, working well on individual goals, and doing a wonderful job of using his words to express needs and wants and to welcome familiar people into our classroom.
This week our student of the week is Carson. Carson is being celebrated for his active participation in group activities, his wonderful progress on using the classroom computer, and being a great friend to so many in our classroom.
This weekend is a three day weekend to allow us time to celebrate Labor Day. We look forward to seeing all of our friends back here on Tuesday! Have a wonderful time with your family.
