School Advisory Council Members
Biographies for School Advisory Council for Conley School @ SouthWood
My wife and I are ecstatic to have a Kindergarten student (Dyani) at Conley Elementary. I am a new member of the SAC committee, but excited about what we will do together for the betterment of our school and our Southwood Community. I have a Bachelor Degree in Music Education, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, and currently in the dissertation stage of my Doctoral Degree in Higher Education. I have taught both Middle and High School for eight years and now serve as an High School Administrator. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, movies, and very active as an Elder within my church.
My husband, Charles, and I are the proud parents of Campbell, a fourth grader at Conley. I graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership/Administration. I have worked with Florida school districts implementing the National School Lunch Program for over 22 years at the Department of Education and currently at the Department of Agriculture. I have chaperoned field trips, enjoy volunteering in my daughter’s classroom, attend PTO meetings, and volunteer in the children’s ministry at my church. I would like the opportunity to expand my involvement at Conley by serving on the School Advisory Council.
I am pleased to have two children at Conley this school year. My daughter Allison is in fifth grade this year and David is in Kindergarten. I have been a member of the SAC for the past four years and have volunteered my time to Conley. I have been active in my community here in Southwood and previously had been active in my neighborhood in Springfield, IL. I also serve on the Southwood Homeowners Association board as a resident board member. I graduated with a MBA from the University of Illinois (Springfield campus) and have worked in transportation planner. When not working for the United States Department of Transportation, I enjoy wood working, cycling, gardening, traveling and automobiles.
My name is LaToya Montgomery and I have two daughters, Camille Montgomery (9), who is currently in Ms. Majszak/Ms. Hinrichs’ 4th grade classes and Chloe Montgomery (7) who is a 2nd grader in Ms. Timmons’s class. I have been a member of the District Advisory Council for the past 6 years. Each school year my level of excitement increases; Conley has so much to offer and its teachers, staff, and administrative team takes pride in everything they do. I take pride in playing an active role in the academic career of my children. I am currently an Assistant Principal at PACE School. I’ve been a part of education for the past 11 years, with 10 of those years being strictly in secondary education. I have a diverse background; I hold a Bachelors in Economics, and Masters in Business Administration, and a Specialist degree in Educational Leadership. I am anxious to learn more about education at the elementary level and partake in the decision making process. The 2015-2016 school year should be BUZZ-worthy!
I am excited to be part of Conley Elementary's SAC committee. I have a third grader who is in his fourth year as a student at Conley. I have been involved in various ways during this time. I've volunteered in the classroom, attended field trips, volunteered with the Spring STEAM Fair, worked on the Year Book Committee, and with the PTO. In addition, I am a retired Educator. While working as an Educator, I taught all grades at the elementary level. I also worked as a Reading Coach and a Reading Intervention Specialist for Leon County Schools at The Florida Center for Reaching Research. During my thirty-five (35) years in education, I've continued a great love for working towards getting the very best for all students. I truly believe in Florida's public school system.
I am proud to serve on SAC this year. My husband Ryan and I have two sons at Conley; Thomas (second grade) and Sam (first grade). We have an older son named Jake who is a junior in high school. We also have a white westie puppy named Einstein. I have served as a member of SAC in Orlando, but always in the role as a high school teacher. I taught Reading and English for over fifteen years before moving into curriculum development. I graduated with a BS in Secondary English Education from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and a MS in Instructional Design and Learning Technologies from FSU (Go Noles!) I enjoy home decorating and organization, fashion, cheering for the Noles, and endlessly chasing my three active boys!
