  • Killearn Lakes Elementary School was awarded the National Blue Ribbon Award for Excellence from the United States Department of Education in Washington, D.C. in 2004 and 2012.

    We are proud to announce that WE WON AGAIN! We are now designated as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School. Congratulations to everyone! This kind of recognition only comes after the total commitment from the entire school community and a lot of hard work. We are so proud of our students, teachers, staff, parents and school community. We will continue our pursuit of excellence in everything we do at KLES!

    KLES was awarded the 2004 No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools award on Friday, September 17, 2004. The No Child Left Behind - Blue Ribbon Schools Program honors public and private K-12 schools that are either academically superior in their states or that demonstrate dramatic gains in student achievement.

    Students, teachers, staff, administration and parents of Killearn Lakes Elementary were honored for being a Blue Ribbon School. Our special guest speaker Glenda E. Hood, Secretary of State for the State of Florida congratulated our entire school community. Other special guests attending the celebration were Sharon Burnette, Governor's Teacher in Residence; Fred Varn, School Board member; D.J. Wright, Leon County District Office and Lesa Hart, KLES PTA president.
