The Digital Academy uses digital technology to enhance a student’s learning experience while instruction takes place entirely at home. The student maintains school site enrollment, pacing, and instructors. Every Leon County School will have their own Digital Academy that is unique to that school and will include course offerings, scheduling, and instructors. For more information about an individual school’s Digital Academy, visit the school’s website and click on the, “Digital Academy” tab. There are 47 Digital Academies in all.

A Learning Management System (LMS) allows a single, consistent platform to hold instructional content and materials, assignments and assessments, student feedback, and teacher/student and student/student communications for a course. Canvas, Leon County Schools’ LMS, is used as the main form of instructional delivery and interaction for students engaged in completely online instruction.
Every Leon County School student will be assigned a digital device—a Chromebook—regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in their school’s Digital Academy. Each Chromebook is preloaded with Canvas and other apps that work best with district and school curriculum.
