Welcome to Ms. Gibbs' Class!

  • What I Teach

    I teach:

    • Government
    • Economics
    • US History
    • Critical Thinking/Intensive reading

    Recovery Courses:

If your child failed their first semester of US History or Economics last school year, I have placed that portion of the course onto our recovery system called Plato.  Students can access Plato through Classlink.

    The Plato login formula is:

    Account #: lcsd130

    Username: Their student ID #

    Password: Their student ID #

    Academic Honor Code:

If a student is caught cheating on a test, assignment or any other work in class, your student will be given a zero for the task, and appropriate school disciplinary protocol will be followed.

However, if your student turns in an original assignment (excluding tests) and does poorly on it, they have until the last day of the semester to submit as many times as they need to in order to bring their grade up.

    A Note About Cell Phones:

Bringing personal electronic devices to school is strongly discouraged due to the high risk of theft and loss. The school will not be responsible for loss or theft of such devices. Students may bring these devices to school; however, these items must be turned off during class time and can only be used during lunch outside the buildings. Electronic Devices used in the class will be confiscated and will be returned to parents/guardians only by an administrator. If an iPod or cell phone is taken from an adult student, he/she can pick it up in two weeks from the date taken or it can be picked up by his/her parent/guardian. Using a PED to take or transmit audio and/or pictures/video of an individual without his/her consent is considered an invasion of privacy and is not permitted.

I will give a student 1 warning to put their cell phone away before I ask them to place it on my desk for the rest of the class period.  If the student refuses to put it away or set it on my desk, an administrator will be called to collect the cell phone and possibly the student.  Your child is with us to learn and we are very serious about that goal.
