S.H.A.R.P.E.
(Shaping and Helping Adolescents to be Responsible, Positive and Excellent)
The S.H.A.R.P.E. project is an intervention program that encourages youth to make better choices and gives them alternatives to the behavior that caused them to be recommended for expulsion. Often times, students recommended for expulsion return within the year's time. The purpose of the S.H.A.R.P.E. Project is to reduce the recidivism rate of expelled students by assigning them a mentor and implementing an original character education program that will provide them with the social skills necessary to navigate their environment. The objectives for the students participating in this project is to maintain attendance in good standing (90%+ rate); achieve 75% academic performance in all core classes; and receive no behavioral referrals.
