PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
|
Hello March!
We are just around the corner from spring break and warmer weather.
We are enjoying the cooler mornings that turn into beautiful
afternoons.
As the temperatures rise, please keep in mind that many of our
friends have grown since last summer. Please be sure that our
students are wearing appropriate shorts (mid-thigh) and shirts (must
cover the tummy and tank tops need to be three fingertips wide.
Just a quick reminder, there will be no school during the week of
March 14th. The office will be closed to the public that week. Also,
the students are off on Monday, March 21st, for a teacher planning
day.
A few reminders…
Dismissal is on a staggered schedule. K-2 is at 2:40, and 3-5 is at
2:50. We are getting faster and more efficient and are brainstorming
ways to improve the process even more.
Please remember that we are a family, and we are here for you. Please
see my Handle with Care notice below. My email address is
morthams@leonschools.net, and my cell number is (850)408-7761.
We are looking forward to a productive month and appreciate your help
and support in getting our friends to school every day on time.
Remember, our school day is from 8:30 AM to 2:50 PM. Car riders' pick
up is no later than 3:15 PM, as that is when student supervision
ends.
Through everything… we are #CardinalStrong
Love, Mrs. Mortham

SAVE THE DATE - Our next book fair is the week of March 28th - April
1st.Voting for our favorite SSYRA books will be in April. To vote and
make it on our WALL OF FAME, students have to read and pass the AR test
on at least 3 of the books...so keep reading!
MUSIC
In February, we studied some of our famous African-American
musicians. We learned about jazz, blues, and improvisation. The 1st
graders' unit on hip-hop music was super fun! See if your student has
a favorite lesson or performer they want to share with you.
ART
March is Youth Art Month!! Some exciting news, very special COE art
is on display at the Leroy Collins Library. Please take your kids to
see it. We have some very talented artists here at Canopy Oaks!!

Hello EDEP Families!
Spring is fast approaching and we
have really been enjoying these warm, beautiful days. All groups have
been playing outside for the majority of the day. The younger kids
are learning to play kickball in the park next door and the older
kids have been having some great flag football and kickball games. We
will be starting our tennis and pickleball matches soon.
On another note, I wanted to let
you know that Assistant Director Trace Hunter will be leaving our
program on March 4th. He has accepted an engineering job here in
town. Mr. Trace has worked in our program for almost 7 years and has
always been amazing. We will all miss him so much but wish him well
as he starts his career. Best Wishes Mr. Trace!
Registration for Summer Camp will
begin sometime after Spring Break. We must wait for board approval
before registration can begin. Hopefully this will be early April.
Stay tuned.
Reminders:
March 3rd - Cycle 8 payments are due
March 14th – 18th - CLOSED for Spring Break
March 21st - CLOSED for Teacher Planning Day
March 22nd - Students return to school; EDEP open
As always, thank you parents for always being so awesome. Your
support means more than you know.
See ya’ on the loop!
Tracy Malone and the EDEP staff
