Become a Volunteer Today!

  • Welcome Community Members!

volunteer The Leon School Volunteer Program is a district-wide effort to encourage and promote community involvement in our schools.

There are many ways to provide assistance to our students, staff and schools. Through the Leon School Volunteer Program, individuals have dozens of volunteer opportunities waiting for them at each of our schools.   Through activities such as mentoring; assisting in classrooms, offices, and media centers; performing school beautification projects, or serving as academic competition judges, school volunteers supplement the work of teachers and school staff – continually enhancing the quality of our children’s education.

By joining the Partners for Excellence Program, business, agencies and organizations can provide resources (volunteer manpower, financial contributions, or in-kind donations) that help to meet school needs that shrinking budget dollars cannot.

Through our Mentor Program, trained volunteers can work one-on-one weekly with a special student who needs academic assistance, encouragement and positive reinforcement.  Each new mentor must attend a one-hour training session and pass a criminal background check before being placed with a student.

Since 1969, school volunteers in Leon County have been enriching and shaping our future by sharing their time and special talents with our students.  Thank you for considering becoming a vital member of the Leon County Schools community involvement team!  This website has links to each of our main programs and forms that you will need to help you get involved.  For additional assistance or information, please call 487-7800.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • We welcome you as a volunteer in the Leon County Public Schools!

Volunteers help the district deliver valuable services to students and teachers that would not be possible without the support of our community.

There are dozens of unique volunteer assignments at each of our school sites and each one has an identified Volunteer Coordinator able to assist new volunteers as they join the ranks of the Leon School Volunteer Program!

In school year 2015-2016, more than 12,000 individuals registered as volunteers.  That means that thousands of students received individual attention so vitally needed to help them succeed. In addition,  and hundreds of teachers received those “extra pair of hands” that are so much appreciated.

For more information about placement as a Leon School Volunteer, please contact your School-Based Volunteer Coordinator or call the District School Volunteer Office at 487-7800.
