K-2 Core Classes

Language Arts
Students in grades K-2 Reading/Language Arts will learn sight words and develop skills in writing, vocabulary, comprehension, phonics, and more. Students will learn to read and write by understanding how letters and letter combinations make certain sounds. Each course will be hosted by fun characters that make the learning journey fun!

Math
Students will learn to count, compare numbers, identify shapes, add, subtract, and measure in this course. Along the way, they will have hands-on activities. As students progress from Kindergarten to First Grade and then First Grade to Second grade they will learn to solve word problems, skip count, and use math strategies to add and subtract. In addition, students will also explore forms of measurement and money as they learn a variety of practical real-life math skills.

Science
Students will go on a scientific journey where they’ll learn skills in research, problem solving, experimentation, and will participate in plenty of hands-on, lab investigations, gaining skills in analysis, engineering, more.

Social Studies
Students in K-2 will learn through stories, games and videos. Students will explore American traditions, seasonal celebrations, geography, and even economics that will take them to new heights.
3-5 Core Classes

Language Arts
Students in grade 3-5 Reading/Language Arts will explore the world of reading and writing as they learn to use context clues and develop skills in spelling, decoding, cursive writing, and more. They’ll also use graphic organizers, videos, and assignments to practice opinion, narrative, and informative writing. Through engaging stories, games, and activities, students will investigate animals in the rainforest, solve a mystery using context clues, and travel around the world while writing in their Interactive Notebooks.

Math
Students will progress through 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade math learning strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Students will also become comfortable working with fractions, representing data, and solving multi-step word problems.

Science
Get hands-on learning about physical properties, the energy of motion, the solar system, and more! Through problem solving, experimentation, creating models, and analyzing and interpreting data, students will explore the world of science like never before.

Social Studies
In this course, students will discover the regions of the U.S, learn about the countries of North America, tour Source Central to understand American history and civics, and ride the Great Canadian Rail Ride across Canada.
K-5 Elective Options

Physical Education
Get fit, feel great! In this course, get physical while having fun on the journey to becoming fit and staying safe. Join Maya and Kyle as they learn about healthy bodies, throwing and catching, dancing, and how to do it all while having a blast. Games like Guess That Sketch and activities like Heart Beat the Clock will keep students engaged and active for 60 minutes per day.

Elementary Spanish
Join Juanito and Rosalinda on a trip to explore the sights, sounds, and traditions of Mexico. In this course, students will be introduced to the Spanish language and culture through vocabulary, songs, stories, videos, and more. Along the journey, students will meet the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and learn the story of Araña Pequeñita. They will also record and listen to themselves speaking new words in Spanish.

Reading Club Elective*
This elective has a focus on either building a love for reading or encouraging students to continue to read for fun! Students will have access to an online digital library where they can read books and take short quizzes on them. Each week students will be required to submit a reading log as a part of their grade.

Intro to Computer Science (CTE)*
In this course, we will focus on the fundamentals of using common word processing application software. You will learn to use Microsoft Word to create and edit documents, design layouts by manipulating styles and images, and collaborate on word processing documents by editing and sharing documents with others. At the end of this course, you will take an exam and will be awarded an industry certificate upon receiving a passing score.

Reading Intervention Course**
This course is for students who have either scored a Level 1 on FSA Reading or fallen into a range showing intervention need on STAR Reading/Early Literacy. Students are required to take this course in place of one of their elective choices.
