Are you interested in becoming a mentor or volunteer? Do you have a passion for helping students? Do you enjoy tutoring? Are you interested in assisting a teacher in the classroom or going on a field trip with your student?
If so, please consider applying to become a Leon County School volunteer or mentor. All interested persons must complete a LCS application. (Please note that LCS volunteer applications expire annually and must be renewed each year. )
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, you will need to complete the LCS volunteer application and attend a required training. After receiving training at the District Office or a school site, mentors work one-on-one with the same student for about one hour, once a week. Mentors can assist with academic assignments, check homework, help with test preparation, work on time management and goal-setting skills, check the student’s assignment list regularly, and tutor the student. If materials are required, they are provided by the teacher or the Mentor Coordinator at the school. Mentors also provide an additional caring adult for a student to look up to as a role model.
For further information, please contact the school's Volunteer/Mentor Coordinator: Ms. Stokes at email@example.com or 850-488-7110
