6TH GRADE OPEN HOUSE
As we begin our venture into distance learning, I will be trying a few new things with the goal of making this process as streamlined and as easy as possible! There are a few ways I plan to stay in contact with parents and students. Please review these ways below.
Additionally, I am hoping to send out assignments and videos to student emails. Students can access their email through ClassLink, by selecting "Office 365" then "Outlook."
Please come back to this website to check out the information posted here.
I have a separate page for each week of distance learning. Please click on the current week to see the assignments for that week. If you fall behind, just go back to the previous weeks.
You can also access my YouTube channel by searching "FMSMathTeacher 6" or clicking this link: https://tinyurl.com/fmsmathteacher6. Here I have videos for each lesson. Under the playlists tab they are organized by week, just like this website.
REMIND PHONE APP - **IMPORTANT** - This is how you will submit assignments
I will be using the platform Remind to stay in contact with both students and parents. Please sign up to get notifications from Remind via text or the smartphone application using the steps below.
1.) Text the phone number 81010 the code below that corresponds with your class
- 2nd Period: @hkfms2
- 3rd Period: @hkfms3
- 4th Period: @hkfms4
- 6th Period: @hkfms6
- 7th Period: @hkfms7
NOTE: Students under the age of 13 will need to also add a parent email or phone number. Parents of students 13+ are still welcome to subscribe themselves to the messages as well.
2.) Follow the prompts through text - it will ask you some information like your age and school identification number.
I will host office hours every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00-11:00am and every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00-2:00pm. Please look at the calendar under "Class Calendar" to confirm these hours as it is possible they may change based on what is best for the majority of students.
The purpose of office hours is for students to receive one on one assistance with the work assigned. It is an expectation that students have already previewed any necessary videos and attempted practice problems when they reach out during office hours.
At this time my plan during office hours is to be available via Microsoft Teams, which students can access through ClassLink, or via phone. Please see the "Student Resources" tab for more specific directions.
And as always, please feel free to contact me via email at any time (firstname.lastname@example.org).
I hope you are all staying healthy, a safe distance away from others, sanitizing, and I will "see" you (virtually) in class very soon!
