You will discover how the Internet works, the role of Internet Service Providers (ISPs), how to connect to the Internet, how data travels the Internet, and how Internet addresses are formatted. You will also learn about the World Wide Web, Web browsers, Web addresses, and Web navigation.
Lesson 2: Searching the Web
This lesson introduces search engines and explains how they work. You will also learn how to use keywords with search operators to improve their search results.
Lesson 3: Internet Life & Privacy
This lesson brings awareness to online privacy issues. You will examine the dangers of revealing personal information on the Internet, especially on social networking sites. You will learn about ways to guard your privacy. You will also study serious forms of cyberbullying, including harassment, deception, "flaming" and other threats to safety.
Lesson 4: Creating Content for the Web
This lesson describes the conventions used to create, edit and assess effective communication on Web pages. Students will learn the guidelines, strategies and conventions used to plan and design a basic Web page, such as the inverted-pyramid model and choosing content and media types.
Lesson 5: Communicating Using Email
This lesson introduces you to e-mail communication. You will learn the components, functions, and types of e-mail messages. You will also be introduced to e-mail etiquette and safe practices, and e-mail communication activities such as sending, replying and forwarding messages.
