Big shout out to all the faculty, students, family and friends who came out in support of the Lake Elberta Cleanup. All told we had 40 volunteers out and in 2 hours collected 17 huge bags of trash weighing in at 477 pounds! Much of it was single use plastics, like straws, chip bags, cups, and bottles.
It certainly left me wondering about what changes we need to make as a society to stem the flow of plastics into our rivers, lakes, and oceans. I'd love to see more of the student body get out there and start thinking about how they can be part of the solution.
Thanks, thanks, thanks, and more thanks for those who came out and helped make it a great 50th birthday and for the difference we made together.
