We hope you will become involved in the Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and become a volunteer. Here are some answers to commonly asked questions.
Who can register for Kindergarten at Killearn Lakes Elementary?
Your child must be five on or before September 1 to be eligible for Kindergarten. Students can attend the school for which they are zoned. Use the School Zone Lookup Tool on the school district's website to determine your school zone. For information about School Choice and reassignment options, visit the school district's School Choice Office website.
*If your child attended Pre-K with Leon County Schools, you do not need to re-register them. Please contact the school with questions.
When can I register my child for Kindergarten?
Information packets will be available in the front office starting on April 8, 2019. You may pick up a packet when you bring the required registration documents. We encourage you to complete the registration process before May 31, 2019 (the end of the current school year). This allows us to begin the process of preparing for your student to join us for the 2019-2020 school year.
How do I register my child for Kindergarten?
Please see our registration page, the same process is required for all students registering at KLES. In addition, kindergarten parents are also asked to fill out a Kindergarten Information form found here.
What is a kindergarten assessment?
To help us provide the best possible education for your student, all incoming kindergartners are invited to an optional assessment. This is a short evaluation provided by our kindergarten teachers to help determine the possible needs and strengths of your child. Assessments will be held at the school on Wednesday, May 29th from 1:00pm-3:00 pm and Monday, June 3rd from 9:00am-11:00 am. Sign up for a time at Kindergarten Orientation.
How do I find out more about Kindergarten at KLES?
Please join us on Monday, May 6 for kindergarten orientation! A short program will begin at 6:00 pm followed by a tour of the classrooms.
This is an opportunity for you to bring your future kindergarten student and become familiar with the school, meet our amazing kindergarten teachers, and ask questions. There will be tables set up with a variety of information and food will be available for purchase. You may turn in kindergarten registration forms and required documentation at this time.
