    WorldBook Online is an excellent subscription database resource for research for all ages. You will need a user name and password for this if you plan to use it at home. Please ask your classroom teacher or the Media Center staff. Kid Friendly Search Sites is a link leading to appropriate elementary and middle school sites for research, educational and fun purposes.  teachers, students and parents should use this as a link when searching for both educational information and fun web sites suitable for the age group of our  students.
    Kids.Gov is the official kids’ portal for the U.S. government. It links to over 2,000 web pages from government agencies, schools, and educational organizations, all geared to the learning level and interest of kids. The site is maintained by the Federal Citizen Information Center (FCIC). Florida Electronic Library is a gateway to select Internet resources that offers access to comprehensive, accurate, and reliable information. Available resources include electronic magazines, newspapers, almanacs, encyclopedias, and books, providing information on topics such as current events, education, business, technology, and health issues. The Florida Electronic Library offers information for all age groups, including homework help for students and resources for teachers. These online databases and services are available free of charge to any Florida resident with a public library card, and can be accessed from any home, workplace, public school, or public library in Florida, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.If you don’t have a public library card-this is a very good reason to sign up for one!

     Storyline provided by the Screen Actors Guild Foundation is a free online resource for books read aloud by famous people. Activites guides are also included for teach of the titles. Encyclopedia.Com is a free online encyclopedia that features premier titles like The Columbia Encyclopedia, Oxford’s World Encyclopedia, and the Encyclopedia of World Biography.
    Library of Congress for Kids and Families has a wealth of information for research and learning including “America’s Library”, “American Memory”, “Today in History”, “Everyday Mysteries(Science), and more! Wordle is a free online application for creating “word clouds” from text. You can tweak the clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color.
    Merriam-Webster Online offers a free online dictionary. Need help spelling a word or understanding a words meaning? If so, this is the site for you. The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary includes the main A-Z listing of the words as well as the Abbreviations, Foreign Words and Phrases, Biographical Names, and Geographical Names section of the dictionary. Yippy Search Engine is a meta-searching engine that delivers results in a “cloud groups” verses a long list. The clouds help you see your search results by topic so you can zero in on exactly what you are looking for or discover unexpected relationships between items.
    Kerpoof can be used by students to createoriginal artwork, animated movies, stories, greeting cards and more. The site is meant to be fun, but has educational value. Teachers can use Kerpoof in many ways to enhance classroom activities while meeting a range of educational standards. Accelerated Reader Book Finder helps you locate books that have AR quizzes and also to check BL (book levels) for AR books. For access to taking quizzes, use the PES Media Center Accelerated Reader link from the main page.
    Word IQ is a free online dictionary, encyclopedia, and educational resource. EDSITEment Offers a treasure trove for teachers, students, and parents searching for high-quality material on the Internet in the subject areas of literature and language arts, foreign languages, art and culture, history and social studies.
    WatchKnow  provides online videos that that students can learn from on all sorts of educational topics. Series Information  from the Mid Continent Public Library provides you with information about the order of books in all of our popular series.
    Seven Habits of Happy Kids provides some fun online games and activities to go along with our Seven Habits school-wide focus.

    Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM)   provides one-stop access to thousands of quality lesson plans, curriculum units, and other education resources sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. Discovery Education United Streaming  is a comprehensive K-12 library of digital resources that enables seamless integration of standards-based videos, digital images, and video clips that will enhance the classroom lessons for PES staff members Additionally, teachers will have student login accounts to complete assignments as well.
    TeachingBooks.Net  is a teacher resource that can be used to explore children’s and young adult books and their authors. It includes useful materials and exciting programs (short movies, audio book readings, book discussion guides, and more) that add a multimedia dimension to reading in the classroom, library, and home. Teachers need to see Media Center staff on how to access their account. ReadWriteThink  provides educators with access to the highest quality practices in reading and language arts instruction by offering the very best in free materials.
    National Science Digital Library Created by the National Science Foundation to provide access to high quality resources and tools for teaching science, technology education, engineering and mathematics. Lit2Go  is a free online collection of stories and poems in MP3 format provided by the Florida Education Technology Clearinghouse. With this site you can download the files to your Mp3 player and listen on the go, listen to the Mp3 story files on your computer, view the text on a webpage and read along as you listen, or print out the stories and poems to make your own book.
    Learn to be Healthy is an online health education center that has been designed to help educators, teachers, parents, families and the community communicate physical and mental health science education concepts to students K-12 through health educational resources such as games, activities, and lesson plans. LearntobeHealthy.org’s web-based kits meet many National and State Health, Science and Technology Education standards and make health education fun. Teachers can go to this link to sign up for their own free subscription to get started using this resource with their classes. Students can use this link as directed by their classroom teacher. Parents can use this resource to help the family stay healthy at home!
