Mrs. Huggins

Welcome Sixlets!!! Middle school can be such a tough time with so many changes and transitions, but it can also be an exciting adventure and this year we will be on that adventure together!  I am excited for us to have an incredible year!

Good communication is so important for a successful school year! This year is going to require a lot of flexibility, patience, and something called empathy, which means the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. We will all be learning (myself included!) to navigate new technology and a new way of doing school. I hope that if things don't go as planned,  we will be able to take a deep breath  and work together to get things figured out.

2020-2021 will be my 7th year teaching science, and my 3rd year at Montford.  I grew up in Michigan but I moved to Tallahassee to study marine biology at the Florida State University. In college, I contributed to several research projects involving manatees and dolphins, but after I graduated, I realized my real joy came in sharing my love of science, not analyzing data so I enrolled in a science teaching program and have loved getting to be a science geek with my students! I hope this year you will learn to love science too!

When I'm not at school:  I love the beach,  hiking, swimming, and kayaking with my super silly second grader and our goofy dog, but I miss the snow and the cold weather!

Favorites: I love the color teal/aqua, funny socks, dark chocolate, and the dollar spot at Target! ;)
