SECONDARY SOCIAL STUDIES TEXTBOOK ADOPTION NEWS
UPDATE: The Leon County School Board will hold a public hearing regarding the social studies materials submitted for possible board adoption. The hearing will be held on Tuesday, April 11th, at 6:00 p.m., at the Howell Center, 3955 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304. The public may preview digital versions of the materials submitted for possible adoption by clicking on the links below. Leon County Schools is currently participating in the state textbook adoption process for social studies in grades 6-12. This process includes a review of print and digital materials by a team of qualified teachers in the field as well as an opportunity for the public to view the content and provide comment.
Print textbooks and resources that have qualified for review based on Leon County Schools’ curriculum and technical requirements will be on display Saturday, February 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., at the Howell Center, 3955 West Pensacola Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304. Curriculum staff will be available to answer any questions from the public.

Leon County Schools’ review of instructional materials includes an extensive study of each product with emphasis on alignment with state standards, quality of content and pedagogical practices, historical accuracy, and contributions that reflect diverse peoples and viewpoints.
