BEST AND BRIGHTEST SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
With the passing of HB 7069, the Florida Legislature re-established Florida’s Best and Brightest Scholarship Program. The Best and Brightest Scholarship is intended to reward Florida classroom teachers, as defined in *1012.01 (2) (a), F.S., whose 2016-2017 school year evaluation reflects their performance as “Highly Effective” and who have earned college entrance exam scores indicating they were exceptionally well prepared for college level coursework with SAT or ACT test scores in the 80th percentile based on the rank when the assessment was taken.
To be considered, you must complete the 2017-2018 Best and Brightest Qualification Form and the 2017-2018 Confirmation of Classroom Teaching Responsibilities Form. These forms are located below and are PDF fillable forms so you can type information directly on them and print them for signatures. Along with these forms, you must submit your 2016-17 summative evaluation verifying your rating of Highly Effective and your qualifying SAT or ACT scores, even if submitted in a previous year. Please review the forms. We will post an updated Best and Brightest Teacher Scholarship Q & A for additional information and answers to frequently asked questions.
All application materials must be hand delivered to Human Resources at 2757 West Pensacola Street by 5pm on Friday, December 1, 2017. Please note this date change is due to information that we received on Tuesday, October 10, 2017. If you have any questions, contact Mary Nicholson, Director of Human Resources at 850-487-7197 or Dr. Michelle Gayle, Assistant Superintendent of Professional and Community Services at 850-487-7177 or you can email questions to LCSBestandBrightest@leonschools.net.
Best wishes and thank you for your dedication to our students!
