Gilchrist is marking its 50th year educating our youth. Our PTO is making plans to make this a time to remember.
2016 Marks our 50th Year Anniversary
Celebrating our past. Inspiring our future.
It’s a new milestone for Gilchrist Elementary School as we commemorate 50 years of learning. This special year will be celebrated with many fun activities, events and learning opportunities. It’s all about our Grizzlies, and here are just a few of the ways we are celebrating:
--Alumni will be featured on WGES each week sharing their stories of when they went to Gilchrist and what they do now in their occupations, our community and beyond
--A proclamation declaring March 9 as “Gilchrist Elementary School Day”
--Daffodil bulbs, 50 to be exact, planted in the garden in front of the cafeteria and are starting to bloom; a special thank you to Ms. Stewart, the Tallahassee Garden Club and the Tallahassee Daffodil Society
--Classroom activities highlighting the song “With My Own Two Hands” will teach children how they can make a difference with acts of kindness
--As a memorial for the 50th year we will transform the area where the crane statute is located to become “The Crane Courtyard” complete with benches, landscaping and brick pathway
--Gilchrist Elementary will have an entry in the Springtime Tallahassee parade
And as a grand finale . . .
--Students will enjoy an epic birthday party at our “Grizzly Birthday Bash” on March 9 in the morning. There will be an assembly with community leaders, and students will sing two special songs and also enjoy fun engagement stations!
