I have had the pleasure of being Montford's Media Specialist since...well...before we even opened the school! I attended FSU, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. After teaching for a few years, I married my husband, Dan, and the Navy took us to New Orleans. I taught special needs students and earned my Masters Degree in Library and Information Science at LSU. We transferred to Washington, DC where I was the Media Specialist in an elementary school and part-time at the Andrews AFB library. It was during this time I had my son, Alex and my daughter, AnnaLee. My step-daughter, Jessica, also spent a lot of time with us before we were transferred to Naples, Italy! We lived there for a year before Dan retired and we returned to the States. I taught preschool for about 5 years, was the assistant to the Education Minister at our church for 7 years, then finally dusted off that masters degree and helped plan the opening of Montford Middle School...what a journey! Now Jessica and her husband have a little girl who enjoys books, too. I hope to either further YOUR journey to becoming a life-long reader, or help you get started now. We have a lot of fun in the media center, so don't miss out!
