• Homework Policy: Homework is intended to be used as an extension of the activities we are doing in school. Please work with your child to help them with their homework in order to make them more successful in the classroom. Students will receive homework nightly (Monday-Thursday).


    Behavior: Each day students will strive to keep their color on green by following directions and making good choices. If they aren’t making good choices or are not following our classroom rules they will be asked to move their clip accordingly. Their behavior will be recorded daily in their agendas. Please sign their agenda and return it to school each day with your child.

    Green: Ready to Learn!!!

    Yellow: Think About It (Verbal Warning)

    Red: Parent Contact (Timeout/Behavior Letter/Phone Call Home)

     

    Please use positive reinforcement at home when they make good choices. I would like to see everyone keeping their color on green throughout the year.J

     

    Snacks: are encouraged. Please pack a nutritious snack for your child. Students are also encouraged to bring a water bottle to keep on their desk. Healthy snacks are encouraged; fruit, yogurt, pretzels, granola bars, etc.

     

     
    Daily Binders:  Each student has a binder that will go home daily. It is very important that they bring this binder with them to school each day. Not only will this help build responsibility, it will also help facilitate the lines of communication between home and school. Please look through the folder daily and send it back to school empty! (this helps to keep the students organized).


    Parent Communication: Please remind your child if you send them with a note they need to bring it to Mrs. Zetrouer first thing in the morning. If notes are left in their binders I may not see them until the end of the day. During the day it is very hard for me to return phone calls, until my planning time which is from 8:45-9:30, however you can reach me very easily by email throughout the day. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

    Dismissal: As you can imagine dismissal is the most hectic time of our day. If there are changes in your schedule that affect how your child gets home please call the school before 12:00 or send a note in with your child. I am not permitted to change how a child normally goes home without written consent or a phone call from you. This is to ensure the safety of all of our students. Each day when you say good bye to your child please remind them how they get home so there is no confusion at the end of the day.

     

    Parent Pick-Up: Students must be picked up immediately after school! Please be patient as we load the students. If you are asked to pull forward please do so, so we can allow more cars to pull in. School dismissal is promptly at 2:50.
     
    Bus / Day Care Vans: Please make sure that your child knows to wait for the buses / vans at the bus ramp. They also need to be able to clearly understand which van or bus they ride, so there is no confusion.

     

    Accelerated Reading: Every student will be required to read at least 20 minutes a day at home. It may be best to split this into two 10 minute sessions. There will be more information on this later.

     

    Birthdays: If you would like to send in a small treat for your child's birthday please send me an email at least a week in advance. I ask that you send in small cupcakes or cookies. Please plan to send in plates, napkins, etc. as needed. Birthday's will be celebrated during either lunch or recess on the scheduled day.
