Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Heather Garcia

I believe that the Media Center is a magical place!

I have always loved the library!  From a very young age, I can remember that curling up with a great book was my idea of a perfect afternoon.  I am excited for this school year, as I think it is going to be the GREATEST school year ever.

I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in the Fall of 2001.  After teaching 2nd and 3rd grade in Quincy, Florida for six years, I was awarded a Laura Bush Foundation grant to pursue my Master's Degree at the Florida State University.  I received my MLIS in the Fall of 2008.  In 2010, I left the Gadsden County school system and joined the wonderful faculty at WT Moore Elementary school.  I was fortunate to teach 3rd grade with a fabulous team here for one year.  As fortune would have it, Mrs. Pohler, our former librarian, felt it was time for her to retire.  I was elated that I was to be able to put my degree to use.  This is my fifth year in the Media Center and I couldn't be happier where this road has taken me.

I have lived in Tallahassee for 25 years.  I love to read (of course), cook, swim, and spend time with my awesome family!  My husband Mario and I have been married for 17 years and we have our very own eighth grade WT Moore Mustang (alumni), Gemma who is now at Swift Creek.  If you have a chance, please come to the Media Center and introduce yourself to me.  I welcome you to our school Media Center with open arms!
