Parents,
On Monday, March 31st, teachers will have a conference call with their teams and administration to decide how we will proceed with online instruction. Until then, I am strongly encouraging students to log into their Classlink accounts and work on I-Ready Math and I-Ready Reading. I would like for them to spend at least 15-20 minutes each day on both programs. If possible, please monitor your child to ensure that they are putting forth their best effort. But, students should complete the assignments as independently as possible!!!!
The ConnectED (Reading) and ThinkCentral (Math) are also great tools to use for review. In reading, we left off on Unit #4, Week #1, and in math, we were in the middle of Chapter #7 (Time & Money). On ConnectED, students can choose to read stories from the Literature Anthology Book, and/or the Reading, Writing, Workshop text. Please be sure that they read carefully, and practice answering the comprehension questions at the end of each story. My class knows that I require them to respond to questions by re-stating the question in their answer. Please have them write their answers on notebook paper so that they can review and discuss with you. Students should also access Personal Math Trainer via ThinkCentral. This is guided practice for our GOMath curriculum. Chapter #7 should be reviewed before going on to chapters 8-11.
The distance learning packets prepared by the district are available on the LCS website, or you can pick up a paper copy from the front office (Ruediger) beginning Monday, March 30th.
I will be sure to keep parents updated on any information that I receive from the district. Please tell the students that I said hello, I miss them, and to be sweet! Prayerfully, we will be able to return to school sooner than later. Take care and please stay safe.
