• Attendance-

Attendance plays a vital role in your child’s academic performance during the school year. Any student arriving after 8:30 will be marked tardy. Students that are picked up early (before our 2:40 dismissal time) are also marked tardy. Excessive tardies and absences can have a negative effect on your child’s overall academic grades.

  • AVID-

In Kindergarten, the AVID binder is the student's agenda book and binder that will go back and forth from school to home each day. Students will bring homework as well as their graded work from the previous week in their binders as well. Returning homework in a timely manner is an AVID expectation.  Students are expected to bring binders/agenda books to school in a backpack daily. Backpacks are to be kept neat and orderly with no loose papers.  Students should keep an extra set of clothes, a snack, and their pencil box with supplies in the backpack at all times.  Please review your child's work and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Students will help keep community supplies organized.   These organizational strategies are the key for lifelong academic success!

  • Homework Expectations-

-Homework will be sent home each Friday and will be due the follwing Friday.

-Parents should help with time management so that some skills are practiced each night and all work is returned by Friday.

-Students are responsible for doing their own work!

-Help should be given only after the student has attempted to do the work on his/her own!  These are skills we have practiced in class.

-Nightly reading of at least 10 minutes is required as part of daily homework. (This includes letter/word card rings.)

-Missing homework will affect child’s work/study skill grade.

-If your child becomes too frustrated, take a break and start again later.

-Remind your child to take PRIDE in his/her work!
