Mrs. Kristen Powell
This will be my 16th year of teaching. I have worked with students from ages 3 up to 11 and have worked with a variety of students with and without disabilities. I have a passion for working with students of all abilities. I began my teaching career in 2001 down in Wakulla County at Crawfordville Elementary School, where I started a program for children with Autism. I worked in that classroom for 4 years and then taught second grade for a year. In 2006, I had my daughter, Ashlyn, so I took a year off. I returned to the classroom in 2007 at Creative Child Learning Center where I spent 14 months. In November of 2008, I began working at Wesson Pre-K with children with disabilities. And finally, in 2010, I started here at Conley. I am a Southwood resident so I was very happy to be able to work in my neighborhood school. My daughter attended Conley from 3 years old up to 5th grade. She is entering 7th grade this year at Florida State University Schools. I am married to my husband, Frank and we have been married for 13 years.
I was born and raised here in Tallahassee. I attended Leon High school, then went on to Tallahassee Community College and completed my Associates degree. For my bachelor's and master's degree, I attended the University of Florida. Go Gators!! I have my Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and my Master's degree in Early Childhood Education.
I love my job and I am excited to meet you all!!
