  • Welcome!  I am very excited about teaching fourth grade again!  I taught 4th grade for five and a half years before moving to second grade, where I taught for five years.  Although, I enjoyed second grade, I thoroughly enjoyed teaching the curriculum of fourth grade and the opportunities that helped continue to develop young readers.  I have been teaching for 10 1/2 years.  I interned at Kate Sullivan in the fifth grade under the expertise and guidance of Mrs. Glover.

Prior to coming to Kate Sullivan, I held several jobs that made me unhappy.  I later went back to school just weeks after getting married!  After 10 1/2 years of marriage, my husband lost his battle to cancer.  My daughter and I are adjusting well, and have such a strong support system here at Kate Sullivan and with our friends!

Currently, I am working on completing courses toward my master's degree at FSU in Library and Information Sciences.  It is a lot of work, but I am enjoying being a student again and learning new information that will help in my teaching career.

Elizabeth Grace is our beautiful daughter (9).  She is the most precious thing in the world to me!  She is in fourth grade as well.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and friends, watching Elizabeth participate in her activities of soccer, gymnastics, basketball, and Girl Scouts!  Elizabeth certainly keeps me busy!

I really enjoy teaching and my favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing.  What is so unique about fourth grade is the growth that students make during this special year.  I love to watch the students blossom as readers and writers and take on new challenges in math with a "Can Do" attitude!

Please understand that you, as a parent, are a very valuable part of our classroom.  We depend on your support at home to help students succeed both socially and academically.  I want to be available for all parent concerns, but I also do not mind hearing about the good things that you see happening throughout the year.  I strongly believe that teachers, students, and parents are part of a teamwork community and we can work together to give our students/children the best that school can offer.  I view my role as a coach and partner in your child's academic and social success!

I look forward to a successful year!
